ARIZONA WOMEN'S COLLABORATIVE - "LIGHT PERSISTS" CONCERT
Sunday, March 27, 2021
2:30pm AZ time
Recital Hall on ASU Campus and Livestream
Anne-Marie served on the leadership team for the fourth annual AWC concert, "Light Persists." The program included five new pieces in the spirit of this theme by women and non-binary creatives. When deciding on the theme "Light Persists," the leadership team had no idea of how events on the world stage would play out. There was a need to acknowledge to difficulty of the last few years and deeply delve into vulnerability. They asked the teams to reflect on resilience of the human spirit during times of stress, challenge, and profound loss. What is the drive that keeps us going? What is our personal and proverbial 'light' at the end of the tunnel? (Sponsored in partnership with Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts.)
*For a limited time following the event, you can still watch the virtual concert on YouTube. The program is available here.

CONTEMPORARY FLUTE MASTERCLASS
Monday, February 17, 2020
1:00 - 2:00pm
Fredericksburg High School Band Hall

The masterclass will explore nontraditional flute sounds encountered in contemporary and experimental music, such as singing and playing simultaneously, alternate fingerings, harmonics, and multiphonics (playing two or more notes at once). These techniques stand alone but can become a part of practicing and performing traditional repertoire as well. The class will also briefly introduce resources flutists can consult for further instructions and more information on these and related playing techniques.
Attendees will have the opportunity to try the extended techniques in a low-stress group environment with guidance from Anne-Marie, so make sure to bring your flute, open ears, and a curious mind!
This event is free and open to the public.
